On Saturday, September 30, Metropolitan Herman of Kursk & Rylsk celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Holy Martyresses Faith, Hope, Charity & Sophia in Kursk in honor of the parish’s patronal feast day. Concelebrating with His Eminence were Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, parish rector and diocesan secretary Archpriest Andrey Ivanov, and local and visiting clergy.
Upon completion of the service, a moleben was served with a procession around the church. As with other church buildings in Kursk, the faithful of this community have outgrown the current temple, and a new church is being built to meet their needs.
After the service, a luncheon was held in the parish hall, during which Bishop Nicholas presented Fr. Andrey with a painting of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ to be hung in the hall.
That evening, Bishop Nicholas served the resurrectional All-Night Vigil in the Kursk Root Hermitage.
That night at midnight, Metropolitan Herman led a moleben in the Cathedral of the Sign, followed by a procession with the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon around the cathedral.
