Fletcher, NC: "Diaconate Boot Camp" to be held at St. Nicholas Church

With the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, from Wednesday the 2nd through Sunday the 6th of May, St. Nicholas Church in Fletcher, NC will be hosting the 2018 "Diaconate Boot Camp."

Archpriest Andre Papkov (senior priest of Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral in Chicago, IL) and Protodeacon Vadim Gan (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City) will conduct an intensive study program on the art of the diaconate, including rubrics, vocal performance, lectures on tradition, and aesthetics, as well as open discussions – all in English. This will be a "hands-on" event.

His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, will lead the All-Night Vigil on Saturday evening and celebrate Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning.

The conference is open to all men in the minor and major orders, but also to laymen interested in learning more about the diaconate (these must provide a letter of recommendation from their priest). The cost is $350, including lunch and dinner, as well as shuttle service. Lodging is not included; however, most major-brand hotels are less than a half mile from the parish. Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) is only 1.2 miles from the parish, as well.
