New York City: Prince Vladimir Kirillovich Galitzine has reposed in the Lord

On Clean Thursday, February 22, after a difficult and lengthy illness, Prince Vladimir Kirillovich Galitzine reposed in the Lord. Prince Galitzine was a renowned dignitary in the life of the Church and Russian-American society, and for over 40 years served the Holy Church in his position as warden of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City.

As reported by the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, that same evening, upon completion of Great Compline in the Cathedral of the Sign, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York served the first panihida, co-served by cathedral clergy, with the service sung by the Synodal choir.

Panihidas will be served at the casket of the departed in the Cathedral of the Sign on Saturday, February 24, at 5 o’clock in the evening, and on the Sunday of Orthodoxy, upon completion of Divine Liturgy and after the Moleben for the Conversion of Those who have Departed into Error. On Monday, February 26, the funeral will be served in the Cathedral of the Sign, after which the casket and body will be taken to the cemetery at Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY, where the burial will take place.

May this diligent laborer in God’s Church inherit the Kingdom of Heaven and eternal rest, and may his family and loved ones receive consolation from Christ, good health, and Heavenly aid!
