During the first week of Great Lent, March 11-16, the full cycle of divine services was held in Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY. Leading the reading of the Great Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete in the evenings, as well as the Divine Liturgies of the Presanctified Gifts, was Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Luke of Syracuse. His Grace was co-served by monastery clergy.
Singing at the services was the seminary choir under the direction of Deacon Nicholas Kotar.
On Saturday, March 16, following Divine Liturgy for the Holy Great-Martyr Theodore the Tyro, Bishop Luke served a panihida for the ever-memorable fifth First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Laurus (Skurla; +2008) on the anniversary of his repose.
