On March 31, the Sunday of the Cross, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan led the Sacrament of Holy Unction in Holy Myrrhbearers Church in Brooklyn, NY.
His Grace was co-served by Archpriest Vasyl Yurina (cleric of St. John the Forerunner Cathedral in Brooklyn), Abbot Vladimir (Zgoba; rector of Our Lady "Unexpected Joy" Church in Staten Island, NY), Archpriests Paul Ivanov (parish rector) and Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ), Priests Vitaliy Lalyukov (cleric of "Unexpected Joy" Church), Jonah Campbell (rector of Christ the Savior Church in Wayne, WV), and Nikolai Gulin (cleric of St. Stephen Cathedral OCA in Philadelphia, PA), and Protodeacon Eugene Kallaur (cleric of St. Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY).
Upon completion of the Sacrament, Bishop Nicholas greeted Fr. Paul, thanking him for his invitation to lead the service, and thanked all of the clergy for their joint prayers. His Grace also wished all of the faithful a salvific remainder of Great Lent, reminding them of the importance of receiving Christ’s Holy Mysteries at the next Divine Liturgy after Unction, and on Pascha itself.
