A regular meeting of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, planned to coincide with the celebrations in memory of the Holy Hierarch John, Wonderworker of Shanghai & San Francisco, and the 25th anniversary of his glorification, convened within the Western American Diocese.

The hierarchs were greeted by the ruling bishop, Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco & Western America, secretary of the Synod of Bishops.

The meeting was held under the aegis of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the wonderworking Kursk Root icon of the Mother of God.
