Lewisburg, PA: Dedication of New Church Site for St. John the Wonderworker Mission

On Sunday, July 28, the clergy and faithful of St. John the Wonderworker Mission in Lewisburg, PA, gathered after Divine Liturgy to dedicate the site of the future church site. The mission recently obtained the plot of land it will call home, including a cemetery, and wasted no time erecting a road sign and determining where the church will be located.

The dedication took the form of the blessing of a cross on the site, served by Archpriest John Sorochka (dean of Pennsylvania), co-served by parish rector Archpriest Claude Vinyard, Deacon Nathaniel Sorochka (cleric of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Mayfield, PA), and parish Deacon George Sharonoff.

The cross itself comes from an historic Pennsylvania Orthodox church, where the Holy Hierarch Tikhon, Patriarch and Confessor of Moscow, once served. The event was covered by local press: WVIA-TV and the Standard-Journal.
