Tashkent, Uzbekistan: Divine Liturgy served on Final Day of Kursk Root Icon’s Visit

On Thursday, September 19, the feast of the Commemoration of the Miracle of Archangel Michael at Chonæ (Colossæ), the head of the Central Asian Metropolitanate, Metropolitan Vikenty (Vincent) of Tashkent & Uzbekistan, celebrated Divine Liturgy in Holy Dormition Diocesan Cathedral in Tashkent; concelebrating with His Eminence were Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan and clerics of the diocesan cathedral and the Diocese of Australia & New Zealand.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, a short moleben was served before the icon of the Heavenly Queen. Metropolitan Vikenty then addressed the many faithful with a sermon, in which he mentioned that for the past two weeks, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God was not only able to visit the Diocese of Tashkent, but also the Dioceses of Bishkek & Dushanbe.

The archpastor thanked the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, for his blessing to bring the icon to the Central Asian Metropolitanate; he also thanked Bishop Nicholas and those traveling with him for the labor they had undertaken, and for their joint prayer during these days.
