On Tuesday, September 17, the feast of the Finding of the Relics of the Holy Hierarch Joasaph, Wonderworker of Belgorod, the parish dedicated to the saint in Brooklyn, NY celebrated its patronal feast day. Celebrating Divine Liturgy for the feast were Archpriests Serge Lukianov (dean of New Jersey), Luka Novakovic (rector of Holy Archangel Michael Church in Philadelphia, PA), and Boris Oparin (parish rector).
The parish choir sang prayerfully and harmoniously.
Despite its being a weekday, the church was full of worshippers, who came to honor the saint’s memory. Virtually all present communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
Upon conclusion of the service, Fr. Serge congratulated all with the feast, and addressed those present with a sermon, in which he spoke about the life of the Holy Hierarch Joasaph.
The parish sisterhood prepared a festal luncheon, during which the clergy and faithful interacted in an informal atmosphere and sang Russian songs.
