On Great Friday, April 30, divine services were held in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City, in anticipation of the greatest and most radiant feast of Christ’s Resurrection – Holy Pascha. Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada and Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan officiated Vespers with the bringing out of the Shroud and Matin with Lamentations and the Burial Rite, co-served by cathedral clergy. Praying in the altar was Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.
The choir sang the services under the direction of conductor Vadim S. Gan. The procession with the Shroud was held in the cathedral courtyard.
A multitude of the faithful came to the cathedral to venerate the Savior as He lays in the Tomb, and to await His Glorious Resurrection.
