On Thursday, May 27, the feast of the Port Arthur Icon of the Mother God, Metropolitan Jonah (Paffhausen) paid an archpastoral visit to Holy Cross Monastery in Wayne, WV, where he officiated the festal All-Night Vigil and celebrated Divine Liturgy.
His Eminence was co-served by the abbot, Archimandrite Seraphim (Voepel), and clerics of the monastery. During the Liturgy, Monk Isaac (Ewing) was tonsured a reader then ordained a subdeacon.
A short moleben was served before the holy icon. Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Metropolitan Jonah delivered a sermon and greeted the clergy, brethren, and faithful. After the festal luncheon, His Eminence was able to acquaint himself with the progress of the construction of the new monastery church.
