On August 8, the 7th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City, co-served by Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada.
Concelebrating with the hierarchs were: cathedral dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Protodeacon Nicolas Mokhoff (cathedral cleric), and Hierodeacon Panteleimon (Jigalin; diocesan cleric). The divine services were sung by the Synodal choir, under the direction of conductor Vadim S. Gan.
The parishioners who came to pray that morning communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries. Upon completion of Liturgy, Archbishop Gabriel addressed the faithful with a sermon on the Gospel reading, reminding those gathered about the Dormition Fast, set the begin during the coming week.
Archbishop Gabriel then spoked briefly about long-time cathedral volunteer Adam N. Krotov, who recently reposted in the Lord. The Protodeacon intoned "Memory Eternal" for the newly departed.
After the service, the sisterhood organized luncheon in the church hall.
