Mohawk, NY: Myrrh-Streaming Hawaiian Icon visits Iveron Mother of God Monastery

On Thursday, September 9, the sisterhood of the Iveron Mother of God Monastery in Mohawk, NY were honored to receive the myrrh-streaming Hawaiian-Iveron Icon of the Mother of God.

That morning, Priest Dmitry Don (cleric of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY) celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Iveron house chapel under the aegis of the visiting icon. After Liturgy, a moleben and akathist were served. All then were anointed with the myrrh from the icon, which streamed in abundance.

The icon’s guardian, Deacon Nectarios Yangson, then blessed the property of the new monastery with the holy icon.

The sisters, led by Abbess Elisabeth, expressed their deep gratitude to Fr. Nectarios for his visit with the Mother of God, which she said "was a great source of comfort and encouragement for us."
