On Sunday, March 13, the feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada paid an archpastoral visit to St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ. His Eminence was co-served by parish clergy: rector Archpriest Serge Lukianov, Archpriests Vasily Andrejuk and Boris Slootsky, Priest Anthony Williams, Protodeacon Paul Drozdowski and Deacons Alexandre Sarandinaki & Dimitry Lisan.
The choir sang beautifully under the direction of Inna Iavtouhovitsh. It is traditional for all of the faithful to commune of Christ’s Holy Mysteries upon completion of the first week of Great Lent. At the service, a large number of parishioners and students of the parish’s Russian School received Holy Communion.
Upon completion of Liturgy, the Rite of Orthodoxy was performed, during which the anathema is proclaimed against all heresies, and the champions of the Orthodox Faith are glorified.
Archbishop Gabriel congratulated the faithful with the feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, and spoke about the origins of this memorial day.
After the service, the sisterhood prepared a lenten luncheon for the clergy and parishioners.
