On July 10, the 4th Sunday after Pentecost and the day when the Holy Church honors the memory of Venerable Ambrose of Optina, Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Concelebrating with His Grace was cathedral dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer.
Singing at Liturgy was the Synodal choir under the direction of Vadim S. Gan.
Parishioners and faithful from other churches in the city came to pray in the Synodal Cathedral, most of whom communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
Upon completion of Liturgy, Bishop Nicholas greeted everyone present with the feast, and addressed those gathered with sermon on the day’s epistle readings, calling on the faithful to place Christ the Savior at the center of their lives, to strive toward holiness, and to attempt to rid themselves of sins with the help of the Church Sacraments.
Clergy and parishioners then gathered in the church hall for a traditional luncheon.
