Jordanville, NY: Bishop Luke officiates Divine Services for Feast of Beheading of St. John the Baptist in Holy Trinity Monastery

On Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th of September, the feast of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Luke of Syracuse officiated the divine services in Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY.

Co-serving with Bishop Luke was the monastery clergy. Singing at the services was the seminary choir, under the direction of Deacon Nicholas Kotar.

Many pilgrims were in attendance, especially from the Church of the Holy Great-Martyr Panteleimon in Hartford, CT, visiting with their rector, Archpriest Dionisy Nalitov.

The monastery has an immense blessing in having in its possession innumerable relics of saints. Among the monastery’s many holy relics is a piece from the head of St. John, which is contained in a reliquary gifted to the Brotherhood of St. Job from the Patriarch of Serbia while the brotherhood was still in Ladomirová. This reliquary was placed in the middle of the church for the veneration of the faithful.
