Howell, NJ: Clergy of New Jersey Deanery celebrate St. Sergius Day in St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

On Saturday, October 8, the feast of the Repose of Venerable Sergius, Abbot of Radonezh and Wonderworker of All Russia, clergy of the New Jersey deanery and neighboring parishes assembled at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ to honor this great and beloved saint.

Celebrating Divine Liturgy was New Jersey dean and cathedral rector Archpriest Serge Lukianov, co-served by:

  • Archpriest Zoran Radovic (rector of St. George Serbian Church in Elizabeth, NJ)
  • Abbot Vladimir (Zgoba; rector of Our Lady "Unexpected Joy" Church in State Island, NY)
  • Archpriest Petro Kunitsky (cleric of Holy New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia Church in Brooklyn, NY)
  • Archpriest Boris Slootsky (cathedral cleric)
  • Abbot Arseny (Manko; rector of Sts. Cosmas & Damian Church in Passaic, NJ)
  • Archpriest Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ)
  • Abbot Tikhon (Gayfudinov; abbot of Holy Protection Skete in Buena, NJ)
  • Priest Valery Sukholobov (rector of Our Lady "Joy of All Who Sorrow" Church in Philadelphia, PA)
  • Priest Anthony Williams (cathedral cleric)
  • Protodeacon Paul Drozdowski (cathedral cleric)
  • Deacon Alexandre Sarandinaki (cathedral cleric), and
  • Deacon Dimitry Lisan (cathedral cleric).

Many parishioners and students from the parish’s Russian School were in attendance at Liturgy.

On behalf of the parish Frs. Boris and Anthony congratulated Fr. Serge on the occasion of his namesday and gifted him a beautiful hand cross.

After Liturgy, all were invited across the street to the parish hall, where a concert of Russian music was held and a montage of Fr. Serge and Matushka Lubov’s 40 years of service to the Church was shown.
