On June 2, the Fifth Sunday after Pascha, that of the Samaritan Woman, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Luke of Syracuse, performed an archpastoral visit to St. Luke the Blessed Surgeon Church in Pompano Beach, FL. With the blessing of parish rector, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York, the celebration of the parish’s patronal feast of the Holy Hierarch Luke of Simferopol (June 11) was transferred to that day.
Concelebrating with His Grace were: Archimandrite Stefan (Khilchuk; rector of Our Lady of Pochaev Church in North Port, FL), Archpriest Yaroslav Lutoschin, Archpriest Serge Prisacaru & Priest Mykhailo Mykhailenko (clerics of St. Vladimir Church in Miami, FL), Deacon Stefan Stoyanov (diocesan cleric), and Hierodeacon Paisius (Alexeevets; UOC cleric).
The parish choir under the direction of Katya Lukianov sang marvelously. Many parishioners prayed in the church and received Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Bishop Luke congratulated parishioners with the ongoing feast of the Resurrection of Christ, as well as the celebration of the upcoming patronal feast of Holy Hierarch Luke the Surgeon, Archbishop of Simferopol.
A festal luncheon was organized in the parish hall by the parish sisterhood, where interaction between the clergy and faithful continued. That same day, Bishop Luke visited the future site of Holy Resurrection Cathedral.
