On August 11, the 7th Sunday after Pentecost and the day when the Holy Church likewise commemorates the Nativity of the Holy Hierarch Nicholas, Wonderworker of Myra in Lycia, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Concelebrating with the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad were: dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Archpriest Seraphim Chemodakov, and Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky (cathedral clerics).
The Synodal choir sang beautifully under the direction of conductor Vadim S. Gan.
A multitude of cathedral parishioners and guests communed that day of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
Upon completion of Liturgy, Metropolitan Nicholas addressed the faithful with a sermon, in which he note the importance of remembering and commemorating one’s preceptors.
In the cathedral hall, a luncheon was organized for the clergy and faithful.
