On Thursday the 26th and Friday the 27th of September, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York officiated the divine services for the great feast of the Exaltation of the Cross of the Lord in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. During the All-Night Vigil, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad officiated the Rite of the Exaltation of the Cross.

Serving alongside His Eminence at the divine services were: Archpriest Andrei Sommer (cathedral dean), Abbot Zosimas (Krampis; rector of the cathedral’s English Mission), Hieromonk Peter (Karakozoff; cleric of the Western American Diocese), and Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky (cathedral cleric).

Singing beautifully at the service was the Synodal choir under the direction of conductor Vadim S. Gan.

On the day of the feast, during Divine Liturgy, most of the parishioners and faithful from other parishes received Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Metropolitan Nicholas addressed believers with a sermon on the importance of the Cross in our lives – the confirmation of our faith.

The clergy then performed a short moleben before the Cross in the center of the church.
