New York City: On Sunday after Exaltation, Metropolitan Nicholas celebrates Liturgy in Synodal Cathedral

On September 29, the 14th Sunday after Pentecost, that after the Exaltation, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City during the ongoing feast of the Exaltation of the Cross of the Lord. Concelebrating with His Eminence were cathedral clergy: dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Archpriest Seraphim Chemodakov, and Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff and Serge Arlievsky, as well as Hieromonk Peter (Karakozov; cleric of the Western American Diocese).

Singing at the service was the Synodal choir under the direction of conductor Vadim S. Gan.

A multitude of cathedral parishioners and faithful from other churches prayed at Liturgy. Many communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Upon completion of Liturgy, Metropolitan Nicholas greeted all with the ongoing feast of the Exaltation, and addressed those present with a sermon, calling on all to labor, bearing their cross, sanctifying and saving their souls.

His Eminence also congratulated cathedral parishioners with their namesday, particularly those bearing the names Ludmila, Faith (Vera), Hope (Nadezhda), Charity (Lubov), and Sophia.

The clergy performed a short moleben before the Cross, which had placed on an analogion in the center of the cathedral.

A luncheon was organized for the clergy and faithful in the cathedral hall.
