On October 13, the 16th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Concelebrating with His Eminence were Hieromonk Theognost (Kogan) and Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky (cathedral clerics).
The Synodal Choir sang at the service under the direction of Vadim S. Gan.
Parishioners of the cathedral and believers from other churches gathered for Liturgy, many of whom communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Metropolitan Nicholas addressed those present with a sermon on the Gospel of Luke, which tells of the election of the apostles, with whom the Savior went up the mountain and there gave them the Commandments of Beatitude, which Christians of all times must follow. Metropolitan Nicholas called on those present to pray for their neighbors and to treat everyone with love.
The cathedral sisterhood traditionally arranged a meal for the clergy and faithful.
