On Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th of January, the great feast of the Theophany of the Lord, Bishop Jerome (Shaw) celebrated Divine Liturgy in Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac, NY. Concelebrating with His Grace were: Archpriest George Temidis (parish rector) and Deacons Konstantin Aleshin and Theodotus Conrad (parish clerics).
The service was well attended despite warnings of potential snow.
Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Bishop Jerome delivered a sermon in Russian and English on the various kinds of "Passovers" mentioned in the Paschal Synaxarion and the various kinds of Theophany, in which the Lord reveals not just the Holy Trinity, but also the economy of our salvation, as well as the vocation or divine plan for each of us.
Upon conclusion of Liturgy, His Grace led the Great Blessing of Water and greeted all with the feast.
After the service, the sisterhood organized a festal luncheon was held for all in the parish hall.
